The pool owner needed to replace the caulking, which had become dry, brittle, and separated, allowing water to seep beneath the concrete and behind the pool wall during rain or splashes. The old polyurethane was removed, and the edges were cleaned using a wire brush, razor, and alcohol. Given the uneven settling of the rock and the requirement for a stronger bond, a self-leveling product was deemed unsuitable. Instead, a polyurethane caulk was applied, smoothed out, and finished with sand to create a more natural look that blended seamlessly with the rock and concrete. This new caulking is expected to last over ten years.
