Realizing the need for a business in the construction field that is efficient enough to tackle small jobs in the more rural areas of the Columbia Gorge, Green Gorge Construction was founded on the principle of being there to help when needed. Jay Sauer, the owner and contractor runs all aspects of the business. He is experienced in a wide range of construction techniques and principles with residential/commercial skills in rough & finish carpentry, windows & doors, waterproofing, roofing, masonry, tile, painting & coatings, concrete, drywall, refinishing, remediation, and ducting all on both new work and old – if you have a need he’ll help you succeed!
A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology – Construction Management and an Associate Degree in Small Business Management gives Jay the business knowledge and resources to complete your project in an organized and well-planned manner.
Jay works with trusted construction methods and techniques along with staying current on improving technologies to deliver an end product that is both reliable and mindful of the materials and energy involved in its creation. Lately, the most important aspect of this has been incorporating eco-friendly products. When quality components of these products are integrated into the project properly there is rarely any downside. The real skill comes in choosing to use these products or not, with research and scrutiny into the claims sometimes being the deciding factor in whether the project will meet or exceed expectations. Too often are products labeled as “eco” to boost sales, when in reality they fail prematurely and necessitate the loss of money and time, along with generating waste. With your help and input, Jay will guide you through the best direction to fulfill your project’s needs and ensure mindful, enduring creations.
Jay works for you – the whole way through! From first contact to the final handshake, Jay Sauer, the owner and craftsman will be your only needed contact – confusion between worker and manager, miscommunication between client-boss-worker, and deflecting accountability are something you will not have to deal with.

We’ve Passed Angi and HomeAdvisor’s Screening Process
HomeAdvisor uses an extensive screening process to screen businesses and business owners/principals. We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. If you have concerns that a pro in our network doesn’t meet these standards, please contact us to investigate. We’re committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don’t meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.
Criminal Background Check
Who does HomeAdvisor background check?
The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor’s network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.
What does the background check cover?
We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database (“NCD”) to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.
Licensing
We require all pros to attest that they carry the appropriate local and state licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.
State Business Filings
If a business states that it’s registered as a corporation or limited liability company, we confirm that the company is in good standing in the state in which they operate.
